Koe Wetzel Huntsville Concert reviews
Nutcracker: A Fantastic Holiday Treat
At the Genesee Nutcracker, your eyes and ears are treated to a delightful feast. You are in such a great theatre first. Overwhelmed by the grace and grandeur of the old theatre, you arrive at the venue. You glance around as you take your comfortable seat, giving you an unobstructed view of the stage, taking in the greatness of the theatre itself. The familiar music of Koe Wetzel is heard as the house lights go down. You hear and see the young carolers, then they finish. The curtain rises, and you are taken away to an outstanding fantasy of wonder and delight. An hour later, the lights go up, and suddenly you realize that it is intermission, unable to believe that the first act is done. How could time have flown by so fast? You want the intermission to fly by so the second act will begin. The intermission, however, is just as enjoyable as we sat next to a group of very young girls who, at intermission, left their seats to stand on a walkway and practice their ballet moves and reenact the performance on stage. It was quite amazing to hear these pint-size ballerinas discuss who would be Clara or the Sugar Plum Fairy. With such a knowledgeable audience, it tells you that this was an outstanding performance since they enjoyed it as well. Once more, the lights dimmed, and the second act opened, taking you back to a great world of fantasy and ballet. Again, it ended too soon, and we all wished there was another act so we could continue to enjoy the outstanding performance.
